Full Moon

Wednesday evening we went out chasing the rising moon with Eliot Drake’s 300 f/4 lens, some bicycles and not nearly enough warm clothes.  Pacing while waiting for the moon forced blood to the extremities.  Eventually it rose and we ran about trying to capitalize on the two minutes of prime moon-ness.  On the way down…

Emerald Chute

After Hatchett and I dropped a line at sunrise we cruised back up and dropped Emerald Chute proper.  We had amazing snow and we were able to ski all the way to the Eagle Lakes parking lot.  It was a pretty incredible day, it helped me remember why it’s worth getting up so early.

hully gully

Barrett Young, Benjamin Hatchett, Shane Jones & I went up to Mt. Rose to ski the Hully Gully.  A big couloir that sweeps along a south-ish facing ridge of Mt. Rose.  I was questioning Hatchett’s snow finding abilities, but he kept reassuring me it could be amazing, and it was.  We were able to drop…
